The Blackberry Curve series has been marketed as an entry level device to many business users who are looking for a device that focuses on messaging and other business applications. Except for the 8900, most of the Curve’s have lacked a consumer incentive. That however might change with the release of Blackberry’s next generation device which is codenamed the Blackberry Sedona. Currently the device does not have a model number but reports claim it is known internally as the R010.
The Curve is a slim form factor which is almost half the size of of the Bold 9700/80. The device will be sporting Blackberry’s latest operating system “OS 6.1” which has made a great push on touch and user interface. There is 512MB of RAM included as well as an EM1 battery.
According to tipsters who were able to put the device through its paces, the phone will currently has a buggy OS but seeing this is an early build, we suspect these features will be well ironed out before the company decides to ship the device.
Those who have used the device have dubbed it as a thinner Bold 9780. The screen is a bit shorter than the Bold as well as a little shorter in length. The screen which does not have an official resolution as yet does appear to be much higher than that of current devices.
The device will run off the 3G bands on both CDMA and GSM. There is not suspected release date, but if past experiences with Blackberry are any indication, this one could come out pretty soon seeing the company is always releasing devices.
We’ll update you with information when we get it. For now, you can continue saving up your pennies.
